QTip’s Long Awaited Album Kamaal The Abstract To Be Released

July 1st, 2009 by Jayvee

Yeah,  we know you’re rocking to QTip’s The Renaissance, which was released earlier this year, but we have good news for Tip die-hards.

His long-delayed album Kamaal the Abstract, slated originally for release in 2001, is finally dropping September 15th (my bday, what what?) on Battery Records. A musical hybrid, Kamaal was commendably avant-garde at the time of its creation, but perhaps it’s even more apropos in 2009; given the dearth of musical merit and capable MCs in today’s hip-hop and the introduction of non-stop autotune.

Q-Tip produced the entire album himself, even playing several instruments and according to a press release, Kamaal is a “daring mélange of soul, supa-cool jazz, head nodding hip-hop, and organic pop magic in the vein of Stevie Wonder or Prince.” Sounds amazing to me!!!

Kamaal the Abstract drops September 15th. Better late than never — so go get it — official tracklist below.

1. Feelin’
2. Do U Dig U?
3. A Million Times

5. Barely In Love
6. Heels
