Flashback Friday: Biz Markie’s “Just A Friend”
Today at TRT, it’s a Biz Markie Friday. And with any mention of Biz Markie, it would be wrong to not flash back to 1989 to remember his Top 10 hit, Just A Friend.
From the time Just A Friend hit the airwaves, all the way through the early 90s, it was hard to go anywhere without hearing this song. Do you remember where
you first heard it?
Even 20 years later, kids who weren’t born at the time of its release are caught humming or singing along as if
it was a new hit. It was even recently brought back to be featured in a Heineken commercial promoting the idea of using a designated driving.
Everyone remembers it, and attempting a more lengthy intro might do the song a disservice. What are your favorite Just A Friend memories?
