Singer-songwriter Tony Lucca Shines on NBC’s The Voice Blind Auditions
Last night, the world was introduced to one of my favorite singer-songwriters of all-time, Tony Lucca, during season 2 of NBC’s The Voice. Lucca is a long-time industry veteran, having started his career much like judge Christina Aguilera as part of The Mickey Mouse Club. Yes, he grew up, sang with, and acted along side the likes of not only Aguilera, but also Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, JC Chasez and even Ryan Gosling. But as viewers may have seen from the package – after a brief stint with fame, Lucca opted to go the road far less traveled when you think of his peers at the time. He hopped in a tour bus and began his journey as an independent singer-songwriter.
I’ve been following Lucca’s career for well over 8 years now. He is unequivocally one of the most captivating live performers I’ve encountered in quite some time. If you tuned into the The Voice last night, you got a quick taste of his talent courtesy of his incredible cover of Ray LaMontagne’s “Trouble.”
This man can sing any genre of music, even though he’s easily classifiable as blue-eyed soul, which makes it very interesting to see what his coach Adam Levine will throw at him in the next round(s).
I think Levine summed Lucca up best, which thankfully the cameras caught when he said, “He’s good. He’s a f-ckin’ artist.” Damn right, Adam. A seasoned artist who should be selling way more albums than he currently does — but don’t get it twisted, he has a super loyal fan-base, so if The Voice is looking for their first hit album, Lucca may be the man to deliver it.
