I first fell in love with K.Flay when she dropped by Jon Brion’s solo gig in New York City at Le Poisson Rouge to rip a ridiculous cover of R.Kelly’s “Feelin’ On Ya Booty.” The obvious ear-catcher was hearing a white girl flip an R&B track like you never heard before — it was pure magic.
She’s been dubbed a whiz kid in the indie scene — partly due to being a Stanford grad, but mostly as a result of ability to bend song samples and fit them into her vision by creating something new. Don’t believe me? Check out the video of K.Flay throwing down at Baeble’s Launch Pad Party in Austin, Texas after the jump.
