Two weeks ago, we asked for submissions from Truth & Salvage fans to win a signed copy of the band’s debut album on vinyl. After a week of pouring through responses, we’ve got a winner!
And the winner is … Jordyn Evans, come on down!
My name is Jordyn and I am 9 years old and i am very inspired by the drummer Smitty. I saw them at The Avett Broters show and Smitty gave me a drum stick not even knowing I was a drummer. My mom met him the next night and he signed a stick and gave it to her for me. He is my favorite drummer and a nice guy, oh and I really like the jump the ship song the best.
I’m not going to lie, this was a tough decision to make, as I’m pretty sure all of you deserve free Truth & Salvage vinyl. Still, they only gave us one, so …
But, seriously, thanks to all of you for participating and I know that the band appreciates the support.
If you’ve seen pop rockers Runner Runner’s recent music video for “So Obvious,” you already know they have a love/hate relationship with cell phones, don’t we all these days? Yet, they still want to hook you up with an iPhone 4. Swell guys, huh?
To enter, visit TRT’s contest page, watch the recent video, then fill out the entry form completely and hit submit. It’s that simple. Contest ends on August 7th so be sure to get your entry in now!
You can also stay up on all Runner Runner news by checking out the band’s SayNow number, (714) 646-4692, to chat with them and leave messages. They’re also heading out on the road with Secondhand Serenade this summer, so be sure to check out the tour dates on their MySpace, “like” them on their Facebook, and follow them on Twitter (@runnerrunner).

Welcome to Bass Fest 2010 on The Round Table, featuring new music from Rusko and Bassnectar. If you have sensitive eardrums, easily annoyed roommates or are worried about collapsing the darn, I don’t recommend listening to the following artists.
If, however, you like dirty-ass bass and dance parties, I strongly recommend playing both as loudly as possible.
Bassnectar is first and, by far, the bass-est of the two. The tracks on Timestretch are so filthy dirty that you’ll probably have to mop the dance floor after they’re done. They’re also flippin’ sweet. If you haven’t heard the “Where is My Mind” remix by Bass Nectar, you are seriously missing out on some hot action.
Rusko, on the other hand, is a little cleaner, a little more pop – but still has enough bass to shake the floor. Right now, most, if not all, of his upcoming O.M.G. album is playing on the Rusko MySpace page. Check the video for “Woo Boost” below.
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to go up to the top of the darn and try to doo-wop this back to you.
April Smith and the Great Picture Show have been described by name dropping the Andrews Sisters and Tom Waits, which immediately grabbed my attention. Their album is reminiscent of 30s and 40s juke joints (or at least my impression of them) mixed with smart pop music. April Smith’s voice seduces, entertains, and crackles with sass. But don’t take my word for it. Check it out for yourself by listening to “
Colors
,” featured on their upcoming album, Songs for a Sinking Ship. You can pre-order the new album by visiting April’s official site.
While you’re at it, enter to win our April Smith and the Great Picture Show giveaway. We’ll select one winner at random, see details on how to enter below. Stay tuned for an exclusive interview with April Smith very soon.

We started as a three friends having conversations about music during lunches together at the office. Since then we have expanded to seven members, including a Chi-town native, and the conversations have gotten bigger and better. The Round Table has grown into a casual setting where music aficionados can gather to discuss all things music. Topics include (but not limited to) artists and bands, new music releases, concerts, recording industry news and concerns, and the occasional nugget of entertainment gossip. We have tastes that cover the entire music spectrum and love to share them (and our opinions) with each other. We are The Round Table! Come join the conversation!
