I’ll never be a “Lonely Boy” with new stuff from The Black Keys to keep me company; I love the neo-throwback sound of Friends, and “I’m His Girl” is no exception for the weirdly nostalgic funk-pop; newcomers Entrepreneurs just might make a business out of their darkly sonic “F**k Tactics”; Justice‘s new LP Audio, Video, Disco is sort of a prog-rock concept album, but not like it goes “On’n’On” forever; Major Lazer might not be the “Original Don”, but he is the only one that kills zombies with machine gun arms…(?)
Kisses tell the romantic saga of “Johnny and Mary” set to a laid back chillwave beat; speaking of laid back, Magic City‘s “Your Eyes” has its late Sunday afternoon moments, though with a ton more fuzzed out guitars; Washed Out drops the Knife-like “Call It Off” as a B-side to Within and Without; every time I type Pyyramids name I think “That Ain’t Right”, but then I listen to the music and I shut the hell up; the Madlib-sounding “No Matter What” is a part of Onra‘s Chinoiseries Pt. 2, a follow up to his 2007 LP.
Listen for yrself, after the cut.
