Adele Cancels Remaining U.S. Tour Dates Due to Illness

According to her website, Adele has been forced to cancel the remaining 9 dates of her sold-out North American tour due to ongoing illness. Recently, the singer postponed 5 shows under doctor’s orders when she was diagnosed with laryngitis, but today, it was announced that the rest of the tour would be canceled after meeting with Otolaryngology specialist who determined complete vocal rest was “imperative.”

Obviously this is bad news for fans who have been waiting patiently to see Adele hit their city. I can attest that her show is phenomenal after seeing her perform at the Beacon Theatre here in NYC. At the time, the singer did mention some issues with her vocals, but she didn’t let minor scratchiness hinder her stellar performance — chalking it up to a rough night partying it up at a local karoake bar with then openers The Civil Wars.

Adele released the following statement on her website,

“I’m really frustrated. I was hoping with a weeks rest I’d be better to sing again straight away. However there is absolutely nothing I can do but take the doctors advice and rest some more. I’m so sorry. See you soon, love Adele”

Plans to reschedule these cancelled tour dates are being considred; more information will be provided when available. Get well soon, Adele.

Do you really smoke? Please stop. It’s just crazy to:  1) ruin your voice and 2) endanger your life and 3) model that smoking is a-ok to all of your young fans. My 15 year daughter idolizes you and is so sad to miss your Portland OR show. Wishing you well in your recovery, sweet Adele.
