Interview: John Speyer of The Postelles

Thursday, February 25th, 2010

Just last week, we introduced you to The Postelles, one of our favorite up-and-coming bands who are set to release their debut EP, White Night (March 2nd). The Postelles, comprised of Daniel Balk (lead vocals & guitar), David Dargahi (supporting vocals & guitar), John Speyer (bass) and Billy Cadden (drums), brilliantly mix power pop and rock with a touch of Motown/doo-wop flair.

Recently, we had the opportunity to ask bassist John Speyer some questions about their unique sound, producer Albert Hammond (The Strokes), the future of music, and dance parties.

The Postelles: “White Night” EP and Tour Dates

Thursday, February 18th, 2010

The Postelles are one of the latest of NYC-based indie rock hipsters to take on an old-school sound. The foursome comprised of Daniel Balk (lead vocals & guitar), David Dargahi (supporting vocals & guitar), John Speyer (bass) and Billy Cadden (drums) found a way to mix power pop and rock, with a touch of Motown, doo-wop flair. Admittedly, I can’t get enough.

The Postelle’s DEBUT EP, White Night, produced by Albert Hammond Jr officially hits iTunes on March 2nd. If you can’t hold out till then, head on over to the band’s MySpace page to get a listen. Caution: addiction will occur.

2010 is shaping up to be a busy year for The Postelles as well as they kick off their spring tour schedule with Hockey and head to Austin for SXSW. Full tour schedule after the jump

About The Round Table

We started as a three friends having conversations about music during lunches together at the office. Since then we have expanded to seven members, including a Chi-town native, and the conversations have gotten bigger and better. The Round Table has grown into a casual setting where music aficionados can gather to discuss all things music. Topics include (but not limited to) artists and bands, new music releases, concerts, recording industry news and concerns, and the occasional nugget of entertainment gossip. We have tastes that cover the entire music spectrum and love to share them (and our opinions) with each other. We are The Round Table! Come join the conversation!
