A few months back we profiled The Hours, the latest U.K. rock band to grace us here in the U.S. The acclaimed band already had its share of believers as they toured with heavy-weights such as Oasis, U2, and Kasabian. Just recently, The Hours debut U.S. single “Ali in the Jungle” became the soundtrack for NIKE’s popular “Human Chain” commercial, which debuted during the Winter Olympics.

April Smith and the Great Picture Show have been described by name dropping the Andrews Sisters and Tom Waits, which immediately grabbed my attention. Their album is reminiscent of 30s and 40s juke joints (or at least my impression of them) mixed with smart pop music. April Smith’s voice seduces, entertains, and crackles with sass. DJs, aficionados, other? Alterna-prog heroes Dredg are currently hosting a remix contest for the song “Gathering Pebbles,” off of last year’s completely awesome release, The Pariah, The Parrot, The Delusion. If you haven’t heard the album yet, I strongly recommend it.
The winner of the remix contest will have their song sold, by Dredg, on iTunes and receive producer/remix royalties in addition to sweet Dredg merchandise and two tickets to any show. The two runners up will also receive rewards.
I know what you’re thinking – “But I’m not a DJ!”
That’s the coolest part! You don’t even have to be a DJ to enter. While the song stems are available for download to those inclined and equipped, Dredg has also provided remix software on-site, courtesy of MixMatchMusic.

Last week we brought you news on Dave Matthews Band limited engagement 3D feature movie, “Larger than Life…In 3D.” Now, we bring fans of DMB something special, a giveaway in honor of the film, which is currently in theaters until December 17th. “Larger than Life…In 3D” was produced by Action 3D and AEG Network Live and will be distributed by Cinedigm. The footage was shot at critically acclaimed festivals this summer including, Austin City Limits, Mile High Music Festival, and All Points West.

Flood of Red, the six-piece musical outfit from Glasgow, invite you to dinner on their dime. Since then we have expanded to seven members, including a Chi-town native, and the conversations have gotten bigger and better.
