Ciara’s New Video “Work” – Still Tryin’ To Be Janet

Tuesday, June 23rd, 2009

There’s no words for this disaster. I mean, construction site + space age attire does not equal sexy, Ciara. I can’t believe Missy Elliot agreed to be in this video and signed off on the concept. Also, peep the background and Ci Ci’s dance break down (and outfit…)

Is it me or is this girl trying too hard to be Miss Janet?? From 1994 mind you. There’s only ONE. Check Ciara’s laugher below, then click through for an example of what a true popstar/sex symbol should look like. Tell’em J, you want this? Can you handle this? Ciara, it’s clear you can’t!!

Music Fans Have an Epiphany, Chrisette Michele Takes #1

Wednesday, May 13th, 2009

Have music fans finally seen the light of day, choosing vocal talent over gimmicks? We think so as soul diva Chrisette Michele takes the top spot on this week’s sales charts – while Ciara’s new sexed up act backfires.

According to Hits Daily Double, Chrisette’s #1 debut was a result of “one of the tightest three-way races in memory,” with a mere 2,000 copies separating her from the two runners up: Disney’s Hanna Montana: The Movie soundtrack and Ciara’s Fantasy Ride respectively.

Ciara was this week’s musical guest on Saturday Night Live where she put forth a yawn-worthy performance of “Love, Sex, and Magic” with Justin Timberlake accompanying her on keys. Guess we’ll have to watch next week’s charts to see if she gets a little boost in sales as a results, but I suspect her album will quietly go away as she can’t seem to buy a hit these days. And believe me, she’s tried by putting JT on a track and in her video.

Rounding out the rest of the charts:

#4  – Rascal Flatts

#5 – Taylor Swift

#6 – Bob Dylan

#7 – Lady Gaga (gag me)

#8 -  Rick Ross

#9 – Ben Harper & the Restless 7

#10 – Twilight Soundtrack

About The Round Table

We started as a three friends having conversations about music during lunches together at the office. Since then we have expanded to seven members, including a Chi-town native, and the conversations have gotten bigger and better. The Round Table has grown into a casual setting where music aficionados can gather to discuss all things music. Topics include (but not limited to) artists and bands, new music releases, concerts, recording industry news and concerns, and the occasional nugget of entertainment gossip. We have tastes that cover the entire music spectrum and love to share them (and our opinions) with each other. We are The Round Table! Come join the conversation!
