Concert Footage: Sondre Lerche at Maxwell’s (NJ)

Sunday, March 7th, 2010

Last night, we braved the drunken debauchery that is Hoboken’s St. Patrick’s Day parade (yes, 2 weeks early!) to catch Sondre Lerche at Maxwell’s. If you’ve never been to Maxwell’s it’s the equivalent of seeing a concert in an unfinished basement, but with exceptionally sticky floors.

We won’t bore you with all the stereo typical things that Hoboken-ites did like fist-pump (not kidding), shout throughout the set (seriously), and even start a bar brawl (not making this up!). But, leave it to Mr. Lerche to handle the atmosphere like a true pro, while digressing momentarily from his typical stage banter to liken the experience to a Jerry Springer show. Check out some concert photos below (thanks, Edgitator) as well as the crowd sing-along to “Modern Nature.”

MP3: Sondre Lerche “Easy to Persuade”

Friday, July 31st, 2009

“Is it hot in here or have I lost myself again? Is it hot in here? Or is it only me?” Well, Sondre –  it’s definitely you — and now us thanks to your second single “Easy to Persuade.” Oh Sondre, why must you tease? Clearly, I’m easy to persuade when it comes to writing about my favorite Norwegian pop-rock impresario, Sondre Lerche.

Just a few weeks back, he released his catchy “Heartbreak Radio” for all of the internets to gobble up. And last night, he did it again. This time with the retro-pop ditty “Easy to Persuade” with some sweet guitar licks and an 80’s feel. This latest smart pop song is from his forthcoming new album Heartbeat Radio arriving September 8 (Rounder).

Download and Listen to “Easy to Persuade” – thanks to Direct Current. While you’re at it grab “Heartbeat Radio.”

Thanks to Sondre Lerche for the tip!

New Music: Sondre Lerche “Heartbeat Radio”

Tuesday, June 30th, 2009

Sondre Lerche is back. The Norwegian born singer-songwriter who now calls Brooklyn his home, has released a new single “Heartbeat Radio,” which also happens to be the title of his upcoming album. Those cool cats at StereoGum have the first listen, but what we can tell you is that “Heartbeat Radio” is fun swipe at his inability to break mainstream and be devoured by the masses.

Having witnessed Lerche’s brilliance in person several times, I have to admit I’m a bit dumbfounded as to why his pop-rock gems have yet to receive heavy rotation, but perhaps he’s just to ambitious for his own good by writing clever tracks. Or maybe he just needs T-Pain to auto-tune up a song for him. Either way, head over to Stereogum and listen to “Heartbeat Radio.”

Heartbeat Radio is out 9/8 via Rounder. Tracklist, complete with the clearly Brooklyn influenced “I Guess It’s Gonna Rain Today,” below.
01 “Good Luck”
02 “Heartbeat Radio”
03 “I Cannot Let You Go”
04 “Like Lazenby”
05 “If Only”
06 “Pioneer”
07 “Easy to Persuade”
08 “Words and Music”
09 “I Guess it’s Gonna Rain Today”
10 “Almighty Moon”
11 “Don’t Look Now”
12 “Goodnight”

About The Round Table

We started as a three friends having conversations about music during lunches together at the office. Since then we have expanded to seven members, including a Chi-town native, and the conversations have gotten bigger and better. The Round Table has grown into a casual setting where music aficionados can gather to discuss all things music. Topics include (but not limited to) artists and bands, new music releases, concerts, recording industry news and concerns, and the occasional nugget of entertainment gossip. We have tastes that cover the entire music spectrum and love to share them (and our opinions) with each other. We are The Round Table! Come join the conversation!
