New Video: Yeasayer’s “O.N.E.” Vid Just as Kooky as the Song
Wednesday, March 10th, 2010
Yeasayer’s sophomore LP was only released a month ago (to mixed reviews, nonetheless), but those of us who acquired the leak way back in November of ‘09 were claiming this as the standout track ever since. Noticeably a departure for the band, “O.N.E.” wears it’s New Wave influences on its sleeve –resembling a remixed Oingo Boingo track, rather than something from the-band-that-brought-us-All Hour Cymbals. And even though I’ve essentially played this song to death (if you’re a TRT follower you may remember it from the first Ghostface Millah mix back in January), the video has revitalized my love for this altogether quirky track.
How, you may wonder? Well, shape-shifting, colorful prog-y instruments and hyper-neon parachute-pantsed dancers might have something to do with it… Okay, they definitely have something to do with it. Essentially, this video is everything I see in my head when I listen to this song –which makes me kind of insane and I’m okay with that.
Check it out for yrself after the cut.
