Break-out sensationB.o.B. wowed the audience during his recent MTV Unplugged performance with a mash-up of Vampire Weekend’s “The Kids Don’t Stand a Chance” and MGMT’s “The Kids.” Like that wasn’t awesome enough, B.o.B. brought out Janelle Monaeto accompany him during “Kids Don’t Stand a Chance.” Check out the performance below for yourself. Shout out to Ed-G for the tip, appreciate it!
There are times when I kick myself for not knowing every little thing that happens in NYC. This is once of those times! Sara Bareilles apparently played an exclusive show at Rockwood Music Hall here in NYC on August 4th. Lucky for us, Baeble Music was in the house.
According to Baeble, Ms. Bareilles played to a crowd of contest winners and fans alike at the cozy Rockwood Music Hall Stage 1. Be sure to check out the performance footage of the singer and her band performing “King of Anything” and “Uncharted” off her upcoming album Kaleidoscope Heart (Sept. 7) as well as previous hits “Love Song” and “Gravity” from her debut album Little Voice.
There’s been a lot of chatter surrounding the elusive Ms. Lauryn Hill in recent months. Early in June, she was added to the lineup for Rock The Bells here in NYC, but a lot of skepticism followed. Would she or wouldn’t she? Well, Ms. Hill put the rumors to rest last night as she emerged on stage at Governor’s Island.
According to Necole Bitchie, the rapper had a few tricks up her sleeve as she brought out a slew of surprise celebrity guests including: Mary J. Blige, Beyonce, Alicia Keys, Swizz Beatz, Jay-Z and Chris Rock.
This is just the latest sign that perhaps Ms. Lauryn Hill is taking a music comeback seriously. Also in June the rapper granted Zoe Chace with an exclusive interview as part of NPR’s “50 Great Voices” Series followed by a mystery song “Reprecussions,” which hit the the internet in July.
Check out the footage of Ms. Lauryn Hill performing “Oh La La La” below courtesy of Real Talk NY. She also pulled out Fugees “Ready or Not.”
Singer-songwriter Holly Miranda performed a sweat-soaked set at Littlefield in Brooklyn, NYC. Again, the fine folks at Baeble Music hooked us up with footage from the performance.
Check out Ms. Miranda performing “No One Just Is,” “Joints,” “I’d Rather Go Blind,” “Sleep on Fire,” and more.
We’ve embedded her performance of “High Tide” below, but be sure to head on over to Baeble Music to watch the nearly 30-minute set — it’s truly captivating.
Sheryl Crow called on Justin Timberlake to bring some original Memphis flair to her latest album 100 Miles From Memphis. In one of the final clips from Ms. Crow’s EPK series, she gives fans a little background on her soulful cover of Terence Trent D’Arby’s 80′s hit “Sign Your Name.” Mr. Timberlake lends his trademark croon to the track and yes, there’s a cameo from him in the video, sporting an atrocious beard. Check it out below.
Canadian indie-pop rockers Stars hit up Le Poisson Rouge here in NYC back in June. I had tickets to the sold out show, but unfortunately got sick that night, which prevented me from making the show. Well, now I (and you) can enjoy their amazing show thanks to the fine folks at Baeble Music. Check out nearly 35 minutes of footage including “Dead Hearts,” “I Died So I Could Haunt You,” “Changes,” “The Passenger,” and more!
The lovely Sara Bareilles is in full-on promotion mode to build buzz around her upcoming sophomore album Kaleidoscope Heart (Sept 7). Recently she stopped by VH1′s office here in NYC to perform two new songs, “King of Anything” and “Uncharted,” as well as “Love Song” and “Gravity” from her previous album, Little Voice.
The folks at VH1 were kind enough to post the performance videos so us plebes can enjoy Ms. Bareilles in all her glory. True to form, the singer busted out some quality crowd banter – she’s seriously funny – though can afford to lose the red lipstick.
Check out her performance of “Uncharted” below. Then head on over to VH1.com to view the rest of the videos.
It’s been a while since we’ve plugged singer-songwriter Ashley Arrisonon this site. And it’s time we end that drought since, after all, she is the reigning TRT March Music Madness Champion. A new behind-the-scenes video of Ms. Arrison’s album photoshoot has just hit the interwebs and we’re in love with it for a few reasons.
First, it features Ms. Arrison looking beautiful and model-esque, which we kinda hate her for — you know making it look easy and all. Second, the footage was captured around Manhattan, a city near and dear to our hearts. Is there any place better than Manhattan? Stunning architecture, history, culture, music, entertainment and crazy tourist encounters. All of which are highlighted in this video, including the crazy tourist encounters, which Ms. Arrison experiences for herself around the :22 second mark. Two words: FREAKIN’ PRICELESS. She handles the situation like the consummate pro – but still we get a kick out of it. Watch it for yourself.
Debut album set for July 1 release — TRT is trekking to Nashville for her album release party. So if you’re going to be there too — give us a shout, maybe we’ll buy you a drink for being a faithful reader.

Rihanna will release “Te Amo” as the next worldwide single according to fansite RihannaDaily, who published what seems to be the official cover art for the single. As always, Rihanna is looking ridiculously good! Meanwhile, “Rockstar 101″ will be released to U.S. radios on May 18th along with its official video.
It was previously reported by Just Jared that Rihanna teamed up with Travis Barker, drummer of Blink 182, for the video. Barker will not only be featured in the video in all his rockstar glory, but also acted as RiRi’s personal drumming coach. The initial video clip of Barker and Rihanna practicing her drum solo were quite impressive. Keep an eye out!
Last week we introduced you to The Pretty Reckless fronted by sixteen year old acting phenom Taylor Momsen of Gossip Girl fame. The band is quickly grabbing headlines as their yet-to-be-titled debut promises lots of “sex, drugs, and religion.” Say what?
Yup, that’s how Ms. Momsen recently described the inspiration behind the album to MTV News in a recent interview, so it’s only natural that their album photo shoot be inspired by those same themes.
The Pretty Reckless worked with famed photographer Lauren Dukoff to capture the vibe with a modern twist at two of New York’s most iconic rock n’ roll landmarks: The Chelsea Hotel and St. Marks Place. Check out the behind-the-scenes footage of the photo shoot below — Ms. Momsen definitely looks the part of young-rocker-chick, which aligns with lead the snarl-riffic lead single “Make Me Wanna Die.”
We started as a three friends having conversations about music during lunches together at the office. Since then we have expanded to seven members, including a Chi-town native, and the conversations have gotten bigger and better. The Round Table has grown into a casual setting where music aficionados can gather to discuss all things music. Topics include (but not limited to) artists and bands, new music releases, concerts, recording industry news and concerns, and the occasional nugget of entertainment gossip. We have tastes that cover the entire music spectrum and love to share them (and our opinions) with each other. We are The Round Table! Come join the conversation!
