If there’s one thing you can say about Fiona Apple, it’s that she always keeps you guessing. The singer recently reunited with filmmaker (and one-time boyfriend), Paul Thomas Anderson for her new music video, “Hot Knife,” off most recent album The Idler Wheel.
The video features multiple split-screen shots of Apple and her sister Maude Maggart, who provides background vocals on the song, singing from right and left profiles and head on in the middle of the screen. It’s a simple video for a complex song.
This isn’t the first time Apple and Anderson linked up professionally, he also directed her music videos for “Paper Bag,” “Limp,” and “Fast as You Can.” ” “Hot Knife” is Anderson’s first music video in 11 years, watch it below.
