Last night The Battle Rounds began on NBC’s The Voice with six pairs taking to the stage for a duet in the hopes of making it through to the next round and participate in the Live Shows.
Adam Levine’s team kicked off the show when he paired Tony Lucca and Chris Cauley to perform “Beautiful Day” by U2. After the performance, Levine noted he didn’t expect the battle to be as close as it was, but ultimately chose Tony Lucca (damn right!!) to advance.
Christina Aguilera put Jesse Campbell against Anthony Evans for their rendition of Alicia Keys’ “If I Ain’t Got You” in what turned out to be the battle of the night. She also paired Chris Mann against Monique Benabou, which resulted in Mann moving on.
Meanwhile, Blake Shelton teamed RaeLynn with Adley Stump and Jordis Unga with Brian Fuente and while Cee Lo Green coupled Angie Johnson and Cheesa. Mann, RaeLynn, Unga, and Cheesa all emerged victorious.
Watch Tony Lucca and Chris Cauley battle it out during U2’s “Beautiful Day” after the jump as well as behind-the-scenes contestant interviews with Christina Milian. Battle Rounds resume next Monday, March 12th.
