Alley Cats — Netflix

Ricky Gervais created and voices this six-part adult animated comedy about a group of feral cats trying to navigate life on Britain’s streets. Tom Basden, Andrew Brooke, David Earl and Diane Morgan are among the other voice performers. The series combines the everyday concerns of its animal characters with Gervais’s familiar style of social observation.

Ted Lasso season four — Apple TV

After a three-year break, Jason Sudeikis returns as Ted Lasso. This time the optimistic coach is back at Richmond to manage a second-division women’s football team. Hannah Waddingham, Juno Temple and Brett Goldstein also return. Apple confirmed that the fourth season launched globally on August 5, with the story built around Ted and the team taking unfamiliar risks.

Sterling Point — Prime Video

Megan Park’s coming-of-age mystery follows teenager Annie, who inherits an isolated Canadian island from a grandfather she never knew. The discovery leads her into old family secrets while she deals with new friendships, first love and questions about her identity. Ella Rubin, Amélie Hoeferle and Keen Ruffalo lead the cast.

Lioness season three — Paramount+

Taylor Sheridan’s espionage thriller returns with Zoe Saldaña as CIA operative Joe McNamara. The third season places her in another dangerous mission as hidden enemies and personal betrayals push the threat closer to home. Nicole Kidman, Michael Kelly and Morgan Freeman also star.

The Devil Wears Prada 2

Meryl Streep is back as fashion editor Miranda Priestly, who once again hires her former employee, played by Anne Hathaway. Stanley Tucci reprises his role as Nigel, Miranda’s loyal and sharp-witted fashion director. The sequel continues the fashion-world comedy introduced in the 2006 film.

The Mandalorian and Grogu

Pedro Pascal returns as Din Djarin alongside Grogu in the Star Wars adventure. Picking up after the Disney+ series, the pair work with the New Republic to track Imperial warlords who are creating disorder across the galaxy.

Disclosure Day

Steven Spielberg revisits the alien genre with a science-fiction thriller starring Emily Blunt and Josh O’Connor. The story follows a television meteorologist and a cybersecurity analyst who discover evidence of extraterrestrial life and race to reveal it to the world.

Taken together, the week’s releases offer both familiar characters and new worlds, giving viewers options that range from short-form comedy to large-scale science fiction.
